UCT Social Media Online Short Course
I have been doing the UCT Social Media Online Short Course from GetSmarter from April 2016 this year. It is a nine week online course, with assessments that have to be completed each week. I have already submitted Assignment 7 this week.
It has been a tough course, but also a very worthwhile course to me. I thought a knew a lot, but I have been taught much more that I’ve missed in my own journey on social media!
I have been asking for years to do this course, and I could finally do it this year! I was subscribed a week late, but luckily I could still catch up!
The topics that’s been covered:
Module 1: Positioning your brand on social media
Get introduced to social media, look at how it has evolved, the various platforms that exist, and the most popular tools in use.
Module 2: Managing and growing your Facebook community
Learn how to use Facebook business pages and the new Timeline effectively, measure user engagement, and craft effective content.
Module 3: Building a following on Twitter
Learn how to leverage Twitter for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer relationship building.
Module 4: Leveraging LinkedIn and Google+
Explore the various ways in which LinkedIn and Google+ can be used for business and individual gain and business-to-business marketing.
Module 5: Pinterest and social bookmarking
Learn how to create a lifestyle around a brand.
Module 6: Using Youtube, Instagram and understanding mobile
Get introduced to multimedia and mobile marketing.
Module 7: Blogging for community engagement and search
Discover the various content management systems and blogging platforms available.
Module 8: Managing and measuring your online reputation
Learn about crowdsourcing and using social media for market research.
Module 9: Intergrating social media into your marketing strategy
Learn about strategy and marketing integration – the most important aspects of utilising social media for marketing.
I can really recommend this or any other social media course for extra “enlightenment”. It’s tough to keep up with all the continuous changes on social media!
